Hans Caarls

Architect, Partner

Hans (1984, Antwerp, B) graduated as an architect at the Henry Van de Velde Institute in Antwerp (B). After a period at Wiel Arets Architects (Amsterdam, NL), he joined HUB architecten in 2008. Since 2025, he has been part of the partner team.

With years of experience in both public and private projects, Hans has built up strong expertise in building team assignments and complex projects. He is involved in all phases of the design process, with a particular focus on the early project stages, where his analytical and thoughtful approach makes the difference.

Hans has a strong affinity for sustainable architecture and the careful redevelopment of existing sites, always with an eye for the optimal use of spatial and social potential. In his work, he strives to carefully consider the interests of users, clients and the wider social context.

As a project architect, he worked, among other things, on the mixed housing project Zegel in Borgerhout (B), the renovation of the historic “Hôtel de Ville” into a Startup Village in Antwerp (B), the IOK headquarters in Geel (B), and the Lendrik service cluster in Neder-Over-Heembeek (B).

For Hans, architecture is a cultural act at the intersection of the temporary and the permanent — with precision, attention to detail, and a clear goal in mind. As a partner, he is actively involved in the strategic development of the agency and the acquisition of new projects.
