René van Poppel
Architect, Partner
René (1982, Etten-Leur, NL) studied architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology (NL), with a focus on Architecture and Urban Cultures. After a short period at Jo Coenen & Co architects (Amsterdam, NL), he joined HUB architects in 2009. He has been a partner within the agency since 2025.
As a project architect, René led, among other things, the renovation of Antwerp City Hall (B), from competition design to completion. In this project, he brought structure and clarity to a complex building without losing an eye for detail.
He was also the design leader of various residential and public projects, including Kadox (Antwerp, B), High-Lane (Tilburg, NL), the master plan for Bluegate Antwerp (B), the new Puurs-Sint-Amands town hall (B) and the renovation of the Palace of Justice in The Hague (NL).
Throughout these years, René specialized in projects with a high degree of complexity: large-scale renovations, demanding programs and designs within a specific urban context. His strength lies in structuring complex tasks, finding coherence and building strong collaborations with clients, partners and users.
As a partner and member of the management team, in addition to his role in projects, René is also responsible for the office's communication strategy.
