Plantin en Moretuslei, Antwerp (B).
Mixed inner-city residential project around an inner courtyard.
This project comprises four residential buildings and a retail space for a supermarket, above an underground car park. The different buildings complete an urban block and give form to a collective, centrally located and naturally landscaped outdoor space at ground level.
Each of the three streets surrounding the block is very different. In terms of scale, articulation and residential typology, each building reacts to the urban environment of the street in which it is located. The buildings surrounding the inner courtyard are organised around a collective gate, thus creating an informal shortcut at a neighbourhood level.
The apartments vary depending on their location in the building block. They are all characterized by a certain flexibility in the design. This allows them to respond to a variety of housing needs. The chosen construction and materials are simple and robust, but are used with great attention to detail.

The four buildings share an architectural language, but vary in formality and informality depending on their location on a major urban axis or in a small-scale 19the century street.
