MIKA bar, Antwerp (B).
Together, a roof and a fire are a bar.
The design for a new cafépavilion in the Middelheim Park (Antwerp, Belgium) is a balancing act between monumentality and modesty. Whilst the context compels a relationship to the rich history of pavilions and follies, its function as a summer bar also calls for a certain light-footedness.
We have created the core elements of a shelter: a leaf-shaped roof supported by three concrete pillars. One of the pillars is a fireplace with a festive chimney. There are no thresholds. Set beneath the roof is a crystalline box that can be either open or closed: a place that contains all the practical necessities. Although the materials used are somewhat spartan, the detailing is delicate.
If the café ever leaves, we'll have a spot in the park.

Within a 'Project', two additional sizes are used:

- Carousel (8 columns)
A maximum of 2 images or videos can be on the same row, with at least 1 column of space between them.
'Panels' always accompany corresponding content and never stand alone.
Only one 'Panel' can be attached to each row.
